This is your union and it requires all of us to participate in order to be a stronger union and more unified voice to ensure we have a strong bargaining position moving forward.

Thanks to Tom and John who have moved on for their work over the past 2.5 years with CUPE Local 5406.

During the meeting we had Robert Howsen from the Emo yard acclaimed as Vice-President and Devon Buckler from the Ear Falls yard acclaimed as Secretary-Treasurer. We look forward to working together to make life better for all members.

Also a special thanks to Glen Aveyard who has stepped up to be our third Trustee.

We also began the process of establishing a Bargaining Committee with the following members acclaimed.

There is a vote underway to see who will represent the Kenora yard. It was nice to lots of willingness to participate in negotiations from Kenora. We still are in need of some representation from mechanical staff. If you know anybody who is interested please let somebody on the Executive know.

Please congratulate the newest member of the Executive Team Don Wilson and Tom Edwards who were both acclaimed to the roles of President and Vice President respectively. Give them your support in their new roles.

A special thanks to Peter who stepped up to the role as president during the difficult times following Tony’s departure. It was no easy task trying to be a effective representative during the pandemic.
